What types of research studies are there?
- Trials of new treatments and new ways to support people
- Exploring genetics –e.g. saliva samples
- Testing new technology, websites and apps
- Health and wellbeing and experience questionnaires
What to expect?
- Initial chat with one of our research team to find out which studies might be appropriate for you and what is involved
- Time to ask any questions you may have
- Enough information to allow you to make a decision that is right for you (no pressure to take part)
- Studies can vary in length, from a one-off questionnaire to a number of months
Is research safe and can I change my mind?
- NHS research studies are checked and approved by a national public body called the Health Research Authority, to protect the interests of patients and the public
- Studies are reviewed to make sure they are ethical
- Studies are closely monitored
- Taking part is voluntary
- You can stop taking part at any time
